SURVIVING THE HEAT!
It is to no surprise that we are under a pretty ruthless heat wave here in southern Ontario! The weather conditions are not the best for many, and those who struggle with edema, heart and/or lung issues may be feeling it a little more!
If you MUST be out in this heat, please try to stay in the shade, and stay hydrated! If you do not have air conditioning, consider going to the malls or stores where there is, to help your body temps stay cooler. You can always find DIY videos on how to make a modified cooling system to help you through! https://youtu.be/FaC0dlRENk0?si=qx2kiigxjA1mDx8p
Though hydration is important, some people may tend to drink more than their body needs, which in turn may cause increased urination leading to a depletion of very important electrolytes which our bodies need to regulate our blood pressure, muscle health & breath (remember, your heart is a muscle).
Don’t over exert yourself in the heat – and if you need to do outside work, choose the evenings or early mornings when the sun isn’t so intense.
Take care of you!
Trudy
